Explore the historical Forbidden City, Tian’anmen Square, and Beijing’s ancient hutong neighborhoods with this fun, exciting and up-close and personal tour. We’ve found a secret path that takes you through the heart of the Forbidden City for a once-in-a-lifetime way to experience Beijing.
Meet us at the Exit E of Dongsi subway station（line 6）, pick up your bike, and set off on a totally unique journey around the hutongs of Beijing. As you cycle around the towering red walls of the Forbidden City, you’ll truly understand the majesty of China’s imperial past.
After taking a secret shortcut through the heart of the Forbidden City, we’ll head over to Tiananmen Square, one of the world’s largest squares and the heart of Beijing, large enough to hold a million people. There you will behold the magnificent People’s Heroes Monument and five-starred red flags waving beside it, all from the seat of your bike.
After that we’ll drop down to Qianmen, the front gate of the ancient city walls, where you’ll be dazzled by the contrast between the old Chinese neighborhoods and the 19th century embassies from around the world. There you will cycle through the hutong ancient alleyways and observe Beijing’s residents in their element – playing cards on the streets, walking their birds, and if you’re lucky, you might even be invited into a Siheyuan Courtyard by a local family for a cup of tea!
Along the way, you’ll pass a 100-year old brothel, an old Tea House, a local market and a Qing-dynasty opium den. You’ll see locals sporting pajamas, kids playing with a slit in their pants, with mounds of coal and cabbage stored in the front of their houses. In short, you’ll see the life of the real Beijing, a way in which most tourists never will.
Next we will go further north to the beautiful Houhai Lake, situated in the heart of the old city, providing a peaceful place to walk, chat, dance, and practice Taichi… with many new stylish bars and restaurants popping up every year, its definitely a scenic ride. Finally, we will return to the starting point where the tour will conclude.
