It is home majestic parks, impressive imperial libraries, UNESCO Heritage Site Puning Temple and the largest wooden Buddha in the world. It is also home to replicas of several of China’s most important buildings, including the Potala Palace, which the Emperor built to make visiting dignitaries feel at home.

Hop on the train for a quick ride to Chengde, enjoying the natural landscapes along the way. Once you arrive, you’ll be met by your guide who will take you to lunch, followed by a visit to the historical Puning Temple and Putuo Zongcheng Temple in the Emperor’s Mountain Resort.

Puning Temple is the resting place of a 22 meter tall Bodhisattva, which has 1,000 arms and 1,000 eyes, and is the highest wood statue in the world. Putuo Zongcheng was modeled on the Potala Palace in Lhasa.

After visiting the temples, you’ll have a taste of local delicacies at dinner, and are free to explore the downtown area or head back to your hotel for some rest.

On the second day, you’ll have breakfast and then visit the famous Chengde Mountain Resort, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Mountain Resort is simple and elegant, and is built in the style of Shanhaiguan in Jiangsu Province, combining the essences of northern and southern architecture.
