Delve deeper into Chinese culture with this two-day tour of Qufu, the birthplace of Confucianism and Taishan Mountain, one of China’s five sacred mountains.
Day 1 – Qufu, Birthplace of Chinese Confucianism
You’ll start your trip on an overnight train to Qufu, where China’s greatest philosopher and educator Confucius was born. Our guide will pick you up at the trains station and take you to explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site, which includes the Master’s residence, the Confucius Temple, and the Confucius Forest. Not only will you see where it all began, but your guide will also explain to you the many influences Confucianism has born on China and the world.
After lunch, you’ll drive to Taishan Mountain, one of the five sacred mountains and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you’ll spend the night in a local guesthouse.
Day 2 – Taishan Mountain
After breakfast we’ll drive up part of the Taishan Mountain, from where you can either take a two-hour hike to the summit, or a leisurely cable car ride. But the hike is worth is, as you’ll be able to explore the numerous temples and pavilions along the way. After enjoying the scenery at the top you’ll hike back down a path where you’ll only meet traditional Taoist pilgrims, and the flood of yellow flowers, which contribute to this being one of China’s most beautiful mountains in China. After your hike, you’ll have a chance to rest your tired legs on the overnight train back to Beijing.
